I Spy Books...Genius or A Mild Form of Earthly Hell
I really can't decide if I like I Spy books or I hate them. I guess I have a love/hate feeling for them. Sarah on the other hand LOVES I Spy books. I'm not using love lightly. We checked out an I Spy book at the library and we've looked at it everyday since we got it. It's going on 2 weeks and we can still find something new. For those not familar with I Spy books, they consist of a picture or scene, and you're suppose to find certain objects that are either very obvious or "hidden" in the picture. The books also have riddles and poems too. The riddles and poems are beyond Sarah right now, but she loves hunting for the objects. The particular book we have has a Pegasus on every page. Sarah and I stayed up an hour past her bedtime one night looking for all of them. Each time we found one we would both scream with joy and relief. What a high! I am amazed at the patience and time Sarah takes to look for something. This is what I love about the book. The enormous smile and sense of pride that Sarah has when she's successful. What I hate is how the book sucks you in and you tell yourself, "Ok, ok, I know it's here I'm going to find it. Just one more minute." 2 hours, a stiff neck and dry eyes later and you still haven't found all the objects. Sarah seems to handle it better than me. I think we're going to have to get more I Spy books.
