Sarah and I haven't been up to much. We went to Ikea yesterday with Stephanie and Cole and a friend of Stephanie, Savon. The kids were good for the most part, but once we got to the kid section they turned into maniacs. I have to admit that I ended up buying a few toys for Sarah. I bought her, blue enameled play pots and pans, wooden blocks, and a pop-up castle and a horse on a stick type thing. I'm justifying it by saving it for her birthday. I'm going to have to go through her old toys and see what she doesn't play with and then donate them to charity or something. We had lunch at Ikea and I was pleasantly surprised. I had a West Coast Salad which had mussels, shrimp and crayfish on a nice bed of lettuce. Sarah and Cole split a Swedish Meatball dish but they didn't seem to like the meatballs. Live and learn.
Speaking of living and learning. While we were driving to Stephanie's house I had on the American Idol CD playing on the stereo. If a singer came on that she didn't recognize she would ask me who it was. So, a song came on, and she asked who was singing and I said , "Nikko." She said, "Who?" I said, "You know, Nikko the black man." As soon as I said it I knew I was in trouble. Why, oh why, did I say that? So, I remained quiet and she didn't say anything. I thought maybe she hadn't heard me. What a fool I am! Later that day, while driving home, Nikko's song comes on. Sarah says, "Hey Mom, it's Nikko the black man." Oh man, I will burn in hell for that one. I did try to explain that his name is just Nikko and that would be how to say his name. She said, "Ok Mom."
