This is for my Sarah Beth. An account of her daily adventures and discoveries.

The Princess Is Still Ugly
Our local movie theatre has special summer movie features for the kids and parents during the week.  This week they're showing Shrek.  I took Sarah this morning.  She was so excited and couldn't wait to get inside.  I bought her a little kiddie popcorn pack and got her a booster seat and in we went.  She ate her popcorn and drank her lemonade while she quietly and patiently waited for the movie.  The lights dimmed, the music played and there he was in all his ugly splendor, Shrek.  Sarah was a little scared at first, but quickly got into the movie especially when the Donkey showed up.  Then, she really got into it when Shrek rescued Princess Fiona from the fire-breathing dragon (she's really into princesses and dragons lately).  We watched the rest of the movie in relative silence, but when the scene where Princess Fiona is revealed as part ogre, Sarah was horrified.  She calmed down, but when it came to the final scene and Fiona kisses Shrek and stayed an Ogre/Ogress Sarah was so disappointed and confused.  She kept saying, "Mommy, she's still ugly.  The Princess is still ugly.  Why? Why, Mom why?" The next movie she wants to see is Herbie Fully Loaded.  She is so jazzed about it.  I'll let you know how that one goes over with her.  I have a feeling she'll be doing a lot of talking to cars afterward.
